What Gets Measured Gets Managed.

As we gear up for 2018 with new budgets, new initiatives and new learners, reporting capabilities and ROI are front and center. After all, a data-rich environment has many positive advantages. 


However, with (many) people driving the data process – from capture to interpretation to utilization – it is vital to explore the options, have the conversations.  Data is becoming more robust, more plentiful, more explicit - and more in demand by everyone. Therefore, the process must be done in parallel to the various needs of the various stakeholders, from users/learners to administrators and managers to leadership. 

Transparency (on many levels) also becomes a key factor.  The initial conversations should be transparent to include the fundamental data itself, as well as the data process. Moreover, walking overtly through the needs reveal possible new data sources, new data connectors and new data needs.  

Case in point – Scrimmage’s new Matrix Reporting capability came out of an open, transparent discussion. It was a wish to have reporting not only be robust, in real time, and the like, but also be correlated to actual performance. The initial “need” was for an easy way to measure actual sales performance following a new learning and training initiative. By devising a matrix, the reporting uses key pieces of content that are “tagged” for effectiveness, comprehension, level of engagement, completions and so forth. Then, it is correlated to designated performance measurements (i.e. sales revenues).  Further, through a color-coded system, parameters may be put in place to highlight significant individual performance (i.e. green background) and sub-par performance (i.e. red). Individual results are then quickly and easily viewed; team results are understood; learning modules and its effectiveness are seen.

Further, by connecting learning to performance, it allows the learner to understand his/her accomplishments, fit, or where improvement is needed.  It showcases best practices and uses.  It also enables additional resources for the learner, as well as support for the expansion of initiatives.  It clearly defines the impact of the learning on the learner’s work.  

Bottom Line - Reporting Reinforces Learning.  Reporting Creates Accountability.  Reporting Drives Performance.
